Do you put on your thinking CAP is it all Glass or should you be a nosey Parker
Excuse my pun using the names of the three most well known car valuation guides. But let me explain a little about how vehicles are valued
Car values (and commercial vehicle values) are derived from interpreted statistics . These are gatherd in the main from the prices auctions are achieving and how much main dealers are selling their used vehicles for .
So yes the trade guides take their data from the dealers themselves and let me give you an example of how this worked ,
when I was Sales Manager of a very sucessful Main Dealer selling an imported European Make .
As part of my very agressive marketing strategy back in the 80's and due to a very limited amount of used vehicle display area I descided to only retail our make of vehicle and all of those with a guaranteed trade in allowance . Perhaps an early for runner of the Governments Scrappage scheme in 2009 !
A very straitforward way of selling used vehicles whereby the full retail price was allways achieved . The side effect of course was that when our statistical report was made to The Guide we reported saless at full retail price !
The poiint of my story is really to illustrate that these are 'gude prices' they are arrived at statistically and not cast in tablets of stone and so must be treated accordingly.
The 21st century way to buy your next car has arrived. Click here to view the prices I pay on my currently available for sale cars (vehicles).
